TITLE: The Alaskan Malamute Breeder and Owners Responsibilities.

Barbara Brooks - USABIOGRAPHY: I was born during the great depression. My Father was a meat cutter and my Mother found ways to use all the bones and meat scraps. So we were never hungry One other thing we were never without were Animals. I don’t ever remember my parents saying NO to a request to keep any sort of pet. I had a dog, cat, rabbit, hamsters, Colored Easter baby chicks and a Canary which was really my fathers. This bird loved him. Living in the city. The one animal I never had until I was married was a horse. So I consider myself a very fortunate person growing up a Kerouac. My father was French and my Mother was Irish.

When I did get involved seriously with Malamutes. I only had two bitches and one male. My first litter Breeding Champion Aurora’s Kuyana of Windrift ROM to Champion Inuit’s Sweet Lucifer also an ROM was quite a litter. Out of that came Ch Windrift’ Leah or Aurora, Dam of Bis, Biss, and Multi group winner CH  Windrift’s Nakoah. Then there was Ch Aurora’s Micah WD at a National, Ch Windrift’s Sara of Aurora, and WB at a National. Nakoah (Bowser) did all his winning before they split the Working and Herding group here in the States

Leah was BOS at three National Specialties. Talk about beginners luck. We continued to show our dogs and in a short period of time finishing nineteen bred, owned and co-owned .Champions. I belonged to the New England sled dog club, Two New Hampshire Kennel clubs and Short Seeley was a personal friend of mine.

We moved to Texarkana Texas because my husband’s job moved there and I was soon a member of the Kennel Club of Texarkana. I started judging in 1983.  Was approved for two groups. Working and Herding. BIS, juniors, Misc. While there. I helped form the Hot Springs kennel Club. I put on Seminars before they became popular with the AKC.

I have been fortunate to judge in many European Countries. Alaska, AUSTRALIA, ITALY, SPAIN, AND BELGIUM FOUR TIMES.I JUDGED IN MEXICO, FRANCE AND FINLAND AND WILL BE JUDGING IN NORWAY THIS FALL. I HAVE MET MANY FRIENDS ALL OVER THE WORLD. MALAMUTES MADE  MY LIFE EXCITING AND HAVING A HAPPY MARRIAGE  MADE IT FULLFILLING. MY HUSBAND PASSED AWAY IN 2007. WE HAD MANY WONDERFUL YEARS WHERE WE ENJOYED OUR CHILDREN, ANIMALS AND EACH OTHER.

I THANK GOD FOR MY LIFE, MY FAMILY AND FRIEND AND AS WE ALL KNOW. OUR FAMILY INCLUDES OURR PETS. I THANK YOU ALL FOR GIVING ME THIS OPERTUNITY

SINCERELY, BOBBIE BROOKS
